![]() ![]() DMC4 is an unfinished mess in terms of enemy design and boss variation (especially in Dante's part) but the moves themselves are super polished and satisfying to perform. And if you ask me, I will gladly play 4 again over ever touching that reboot for the rest of my life. I recently replayed DMC4 right after playing the Ninja Theory reboot for the first time. :black_small_square: Devil May Cry 4 :black_small_square: This game made you FEEL COOL and rewarded you for pulling off even cool stuff and it is something I greatly appreciated. If there was any sense of logic and boundaries before, then DMC3 has incinirated them out of existence. This game was the peak of Devil May Cry at the time, going ever further beyond on the spectacle and thrill of the moment. For the longest time this was my favorite DMC game bcuz of the sheer range of options and fun polished content. To make things even harder for myself, I (unknowingly) was mostly using the Gunslinger style along with all the ranged weapons cuz I was too much of a wuss to go in close and personal (and also platforming/maze hell) But I did beat it! The second most satisfying victory after completing KH2 Crit on a Moded KH2 vanilla with a mouse and keyboard. ![]() So of course I was very adamant on beating this game in spite of "Easy Mode is now selectable" mocking me at ever turn. I played the vanilla edition cuz that is what I had at the time. :black_small_square: Devil May Cry 2 :black_small_square: It was only the start of whacky hijinks I would yet to experience. You can't imagine how happy I was to finally play as the dude I watched in the anime, sniping with Ebony & Ivory, DTing with Sparda, spamming the shotgun cuz gun goes boom boom. DMC1 layed out the groundwork, the fancy weapon switching and other combo based mechanics are easy enough to grasp for any newcomer in spite of this game's age and 20 years ago this was unheard off. I am glad this concept was deemed as too deviant from the Resident Evil formula only to get greenlit as its own game, cuz otherwise this series, nor character action games in general wouldn't exist and/or wouldn't be what they are today. In true Hideki Kamiya tradition, he creates the first game and then fks off right after to do sth else with varying circumstances thus leaving his creations to grow without him. Like how Sparda WOKE UP TO JUSTICE, I too "woke up" to expressing my long surpressed inner edgelord. ![]() Our first venture with the red-coated devil hunter. :black_small_square: Devil May Cry :black_small_square: From there on, Kat has fallen in love with the series again like all those years prior. Over time, the young Kat thought the series was pretty much done for thanks to the Ninja Theory reboot only to be absolutely proven wrong at Microsoft's conference at E3 2018, where they unvailed the long avaited 5th entry to the series. ![]() It took some time before Kat realised that this was a side story of a video game series baring the same name, and thus her wacky wahoo pizza time adventures with her first ever character action game began. It was an episodic adventure of the Legendary Devil Hunter Dante as he is working paycheck to paycheck in order to have a somewhat "comfortable" life in Redgrave City. The Kat from back then didn't really care about reviews, she just wanted to watch stuff that looked cool to her, and this anime fit that bill. The anime was Devil May Cry: The Animated Series produced by Madhouse in 2007. About 7 or so years ago, the novice weeb Kat who would watch anime and manga reviews for recommendations has stumbled upon an anime that had a tall white haired dude in a long red coat on the cover. ![]()
